Franklin County

Lawn Care in Boones Mill, VA

Boones Mill is south of the valley in Franklin County, and it's more rural than the rest of our area. Bigger lots, longer driveways, and mature oaks that drop enough in November to bury a front yard twice over.

Acreage prices differently from a suburban lot, and we'd rather say so up front than surprise you. Send the address and we can measure most of it before we come out.

Recent work

Jobs we've finished in Boones Mill.

A pair of mature oaks in Boones Mill had dropped across the whole front yard and down to the road. Cleared to grass in one visit and hauled off, rather than raked to the curb for someone else to deal with.

Local know-how

What Franklin County's rules mean for you

Every town around here handles yard debris differently, and it changes what you should expect from whoever you hire.

  • No curbside collection. Franklin County runs drop-off sites — manned green box sites and unmanned ones — rather than picking up at the road. There's no curb to leave anything at.
  • Brush goes to the landfill, not the green box. The county directs brush and large bulk items to the landfill on Route 220. Only a couple of sites take small amounts of residential brush at all.
  • Truck and trailer loads are turned away. Those sites won't accept trailer loads — which is exactly what one mature oak's leaf drop or a day of limb work produces. We're already going to the landfill; you don't need to make the trip.

Site rules and hours are on franklincountyva.gov. The short version is that anything bigger than a car boot load is a landfill trip.

Before you call

Questions about Boones Mill.

How far out do you go into Franklin County?

Boones Mill is a regular stop and we cover the town, not selected roads. Further out depends on the job — call and ask rather than assume, and we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense for both of us.

Do you price acreage differently?

Yes. A property with several acres and a long drive isn't the same job as a suburban lot, and pricing reflects that. We measure from the address before quoting.

Can't I just take the leaves to a green box site?

Not in any quantity. The county sends brush to the landfill and the drop-off sites won't take truck or trailer loads. One big oak fills a trailer, which is a landfill trip rather than a green box run.
