Roanoke is where most of our work sits. The city's older neighborhoods came with mature oaks and maples and foundation plantings put in decades ago — which means heavy leaf drop every fall, beds that have outgrown the line someone cut for them, and clay soil packed hard enough that water runs off instead of soaking in.
One rule worth knowing before you hire anyone in the city: Roanoke does not collect brush cut by a contractor or tree company. If a business cuts it, that business has to take it away.

What Roanoke's collection rules mean for you
Every town around here handles yard debris differently, and it changes what you should expect from whoever you hire.
- Contractor brush isn't collected. The city is explicit that it won't pick up brush cut by a contractor, tree company or utility. If someone trims your trees and leaves the pile at the curb, it stays there. Everything we cut goes on our trailer the same day.
- No loose-leaf collection. Roanoke doesn't run a loose-leaf program. Leaves have to go out in biodegradable paper bags on your normal collection day during the fall bagged-leaf weeks, or be handled privately. Raking a whole yard into bags is most of the work.
- Bulk is capped. There's a limit on bulky items per week at the curb, so a bed tear-out or a big cleanup won't fit inside it. Ours leaves with us instead of sitting out for weeks in installments.
City programs and dates change year to year — check roanokeva.gov for the current schedule. What doesn't change is who's responsible for contractor debris.

The city won't take brush a contractor cut. What happens to mine?
It leaves with us the day we cut it. That's not an add-on and it isn't a separate charge. It's the reason a tree or shrub job priced by us is a finished job rather than a pile you now have to solve.
What about my leaves, since there's no loose-leaf pickup?
We haul them off site. You don't need to bag anything, buy paper leaf sacks, or get them to the curb on the right week.
